‘Why should I engage a coach?’ It’s a question you might be asking yourself…and it’s a very valid question. Coaching involves a commitment of both time and financial resources.
It also requires mental and emotional application…after all, there’s not much point undertaking a development process half-hearted. If you’re going to invest yourself into working with a coach, you want to know that your time and effort…and money…are going to help you achieve, or exceed, your goals. And while coaching often explores the less tangible and measurable aspects of life, it’s always helpful to base our knowledge, understandings and decisions on empirical data whenever we can.
To that end, here are some of the data around coaching…
Studies show that:
- 86% of companies report that they recouped their investment on coaching and more
- 80% of people who receive coaching report increased self-confidence
- 73% of coaching clients improved their relationships
- 72% of clients improved their communication skills
- 67% of clients improved their work-life balance

And for those who have engaged coaches previously:
- 99% of clients who hire a coach are satisfied
- 96% of clients would hire a coach again
What does all this mean? Quite simply, coaching works! And just as importantly, those who have gone through a coaching process are happy with the outcome.
Coaching helps you assess where you currently are, clarifies where you want to get to, maps out a realistic and achievable path to that destination, and works with you to reach those goals.
Coaching can help clients excel not just in a broad performance sense, what we would call Executive Coaching, or Personal Coaching, but can also be used for specific focus areas.

When something’s not quite right with our teeth, we see a specialist – the dentist. When we have a problem with the plumbing, we see a specialist – the plumber. When we want to develop as people, manage relationships better, improve our personal effectiveness, become better leaders, or just become better human beings, we see a specialist – the coach.
They say the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting a different result (this has been attributed to Albert Einstein, although there is some doubt as to whether he actually said this). If you want to improve the way you work, or the way you lead, or the way you manage relationships, or the way you manage your emotions within those relationships (and in life in general, emotions can be such tricky little buggers), or the way you influence people, or the way you speak and present, or your life-work balance, or the way you manage your time, and you haven’t been able to do so to the degree that you would like, or perhaps not even at all, then it’s time to try something different.
And what better way than to work with a coach, someone who has expertise and experience helping people achieve exactly what you are wanting to achieve?!
